From young entrepreneurs taking on the establishment to those behind challenger brands and potentially industry-changing technologies, Summit 2027 will be putting the spotlight on disruptors – those determined to deliver not just evolution but revolution to our sector.

Delegates will have the chance to meet and learn from speakers keen to shake-up the status quo, at the annual event, taking place on Tuesday March 9, at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.

Headliners for the day will include AI expert Sabine Benoit, an associate dean (impact) at the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business, who will discuss the myths and must-knows about this technology and its role in the forecourt sector.

Other industry heavyweights speaking on the day include Ilyas Munshi, commercial director of EG On The Move; David Philpot chief operating officer at Roadside Real Estate; Vicky Smithson, chief executive of Penny on the Move, and Steven Fox, managing director of the Motor Fuel Group.

There will be a panel of experts, discussing the deposit return scheme, one of the most disruptive pieces of legislation coming down the tracks. Ascona’s head of retail business Richard Law will share insights into how the Top 50 Indie is facing the challenge.

Lumina will be revealing exclusive market research on consumer expectations and forecourt operator trends.

There will be a panel on some of the most interesting innovations in the sector, from boutique hotels above the forecourt shop to introducing an own-brand bakery.

Forecourt operators will also share how they are disrupting the workplace, providing staff with meaningful career paths and motivation in a sector in which it is traditionally difficult to recruit and retain staff.

Disrupting the future will be the theme of the final afternoon line-up of operators who will disclose how their businesses are evolving with AI, automation, and innovation. Touchscreen food ordering at electric vehicle chargepoints, fuel totems used for dynamic advertising, and in-store digital media screens will be among subjects covered.
